Justification

"I saw the power of God poured out just as it was in the book of Acts.... I didn't see tongues of flame, but I suspect it was because I wasn't looking." Yet the description is very Clear in Acts 2. "There was a sound from heaven, as of a mighty wind... there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire." Later there was an interesting incident when the believers had met together for prayer. "And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness." Acts 4:31 The power and presence of God was assured by signs specifically significant for the Jews and their expectations of the Messiah's coming. They are confirmatory signs that do not hold the same significance for other nations. Mrs Mumford would have noticed if the real signs and the presence of the Holy Spirit was there as it had been in the Book of Acts. A church in England may have experienced a shaking of a building, but that in itself is no guaranteed mark of the presence of the Holy Spirit.
